Pioneering Spaces of Black Joy and Healing

Our story begins with a vision - a vision to fill a significant void in online spaces dedicated to Black Joy. JoyNet emerged from a desire to create a platform where individuals, especially those experiencing grief and loss, could find solace, understanding, and joy.

At JoyNet, we're more than just a community; we're a movement that champions the power of shared experiences and collective healing. Our journey is one of resilience, hope, and the unyielding pursuit of happiness in a world that often overlooks it.

Informed by Data, Driven by Compassion

At JoyNet, we don't just believe in the power of positive spaces; we back it with research. Studies have shown the profound impact of grief, loss, and violence on mental health, particularly within Black communities.

JoyNet is an AI-driven app and co-creative project spearheaded by a transdisciplinary research team encompassing fields such as psychiatry, social work, psychology, design, computer science, and community organization. We employ design justice and co-creative methods throughout the entire co-design process, engaging a Youth Advisory Council (YAC) comprised of youth aged 18-24 from Philadelphia and New York City.
