Welcome to our Community Guidelines page. Here, we outline the principles and practices that make JoyNet a safe, supportive, and joyful community. These guidelines are essential in maintaining the integrity of our space, ensuring every member feels valued, heard, and respected.

Guidelines with a Purpose - Shaped by You

Our community guidelines aren't just rules; they're a reflection of our collective voice. Developed with input from our Youth Advisory Council, these guidelines are tailored to protect and promote Black Joy.

Please report it through our in-app reporting feature. We take every report seriously.

Are there consequences for violating the guidelines?

Yes, depending on the severity, consequences can range from a warning to account suspension.

Can I suggest changes to the guidelines?

Absolutely! We welcome feedback. Suggestions can be submitted through our feedback form.

JoyNet Community Guidelines

JoyNet is a web platform for Black youths to experience black joy online content to explore opportunities for e-healings. It offers safe space to connect and engage with each other through joyful contents and interactions to promote positive mental health outcomes. The platform is designed with the intention to achieve user safety, privacy, inclusivity, and accessibility for anyone with any level of abilities to be connected with the community and find a source of joy and healing.

We encourage users to reflect on potential content and its influence before posting to avoid negativity and toxicity. Below are the community guidelines for JoyNet.

Community Wellbeing

Joy

This platform's purpose is to promote joy for healing. We want users to respect community wellbeing and promote only joy for individual and community healing on the platform.

Spam

Spamming is discouraged in the JoyNet community.

Danger/Harm

Content that entices users to harm or self-harm in any form is not tolerated in the JoyNet community.

Negative coping mechanism

Hate

Hate speech, harassment, discrimination, supremacy, or dehumanization based on race, ethnicity, caste, gender, skin color, sexual orientation, disability, religion, nationality, socioeconomic status, weight, health conditions, accents, or any other identities and characteristics are not tolerated in the JoyNet community.

Danger/Harm

We strongly encourage you to use the trigger warning feature or provide a trigger warning in the beginning of your posts when posting content that could be potentially triggering to others (including mental health triggers, personal identity triggers and beyond).

Users can also use the reporting system to request a trigger warning for the content that they believe is potentially triggering. When an account fails to provide trigger warning twice or more than twice will be required to take a tutorial before further posting.

Identity and accountability

Misrepresentation

Though users can choose to remain anonymous on JoyNet, we encourage you to represent your true identities and not someone else. We encourage users to reflect on their positionalities and implement a lived experience centered perspective.

Misinformation

We strongly encourage you to take responsibility of the information you post on JoyNet and avoid starting or spreading rumors.

Sensitive/Illegal Content

Sexual content

JoyNet does not tolerate explicit or suggestive sexual content created by humans or generative AI.

Child sex exploitation

JoyNet strongly prohibits child sex exploitation in any form.

Illegal activities

Please do not use JoyNet to advertise or perform activities that violate local/applicable laws in any form.

Results of violation

Users can use the reporting system to start reasonable removal requests for content (including posts, comments, messages, etc.) that fails to abide by the JoyNet Community Guidelines. Once JoyNet has approved the content removal request, accounts of the removed content may have certain features (commenting, replying, direct messaging, posting, etc.) deactivated for 1-4 weeks. Users might also be required to take a short tutorial on ways to maintain the community wellbeing to reactive the features. Accounts that have had more than 3 instances of content removal. All accounts that have interacted with the removed content will receive a notification of the removal. For content violating the guidelines on sensitive/illegal contents, we will report to and cooperate fully with the appropriate authorities.
